Hi there, I'm Ava
Project manager, parent, and expat living in Boise, United States.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term contract gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Began
Moving to United States wasn’t in our master plan. Like many international relocations, it started with a job opportunity and soon grew into something bigger.
The initial months were demanding — fresh systems, new routines, higher expectations. Everyday tasks felt more complex than expected.
The Adjustment Phase
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. Yet gradually, routines took shape. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Created Orchid Garden Satin
Most online information was either corporate relocation advice or surface-level travel content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site exists to bridge that gap — practical guidance grounded in real life in United States.
What This Site Covers (And Does Not)
This site IS:
- Hands-on insights from living in United States
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site ISN'T:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- A privately sponsored review platform
- Just another generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in United States goes on, and the learning journey continues. As long as the information remains helpful, I’ll continue recording what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Boise or anywhere in United States, don't hesitate to get in touch.
Cheers,
Ava
